Managing Patients with Abnormal Uterine Bleeding (AUB)
Abnormal uterine bleeding is one of the three most common reasons women visit their Ob/Gyn.* While women are concerned about heavy or irregular bleeding, many are unaware of the causes of abnormal bleeding and available treatment options.
AUB in premenopausal women can be ovulatory, anovulatory, or anatomic. In postmenopausal women, the condition is most commonly caused by atrophic vaginitis, and should be investigated to rule out any endometrial and cervical carcinoma. In addition, many medications can cause abnormal uterine bleeding.
This site is intended to provide information on management of patients with AUB, including the condition and its symptoms, pre-operative planning, diagnosis and patient selection, and patient counseling.
